Kim

Meet Kim, the Practice Manager at Beaverton Pet Clinic. Kim began working at our sister hospital Frontier Veterinary Hospital in September 2016.

Do you go by Kim, or do you have any nicknames?
Just Kim! My family has always called me Kimberly, and my friends and co-workers have always called me Kim (or my initials- KLH). I’m happy to respond to anything as long as it’s not Kimmy!

In your words, what is your job at Beaverton?
I am the Practice Manager at Beaverton Pet, which means I am responsible for just about everything! This ranges from hiring and managing the staff, handling any client concerns, running our staff meetings, etc. You name it; I probably have a hand in it somewhere! But most importantly, I’ve always felt that my job is to handle whatever I can so that our highly skilled staff can focus on taking care of our clients and patients. Luckily I do get some furry friend snuggles along the way (job perk!)

Why did you decide to work at Beaverton?
I started at Frontier back in 2016 after moving from Chicago, and the plan had always been to have me manage a second practice should we end up acquiring one. When we purchased Beaverton Pet in February of 2019, I was so excited to meet the team there and be available to help them with the transition and beyond. Dr. Wilson built a phenomenal practice with a true community feel which really left an impact on me. Everyone is so wonderful and friendly, and it has been an absolute honor to manage this practice and be involved in watching it grow and thrive.

Do you have any pets?
I do! I have always had black animals my entire life, so it will come as no surprise to those that know me that I now have a black Lab mix named Cora! My husband and I lost our longtime dog and cat within a year of each other during the pandemic, and when we decided we were ready for another dog specifically stated that we didn’t want a puppy. What did we get? A puppy. Luckily she is a perfect little wild black dog (adopted from Texas), and our house is starting to feel complete again.

Tell us a little-known fact about you!
I have been riding horses for most of my life and used to compete all over the Midwest and throughout college on the east coast. At one point, I worked at a show horse barn that also had a private zoo attached – giraffes, zebras, orangutans, cheetahs – you name it! We would be riding around outside and could hear the wild animal calls! I’m also a die-hard John Candy fan, and I should be embarrassed to admit Uncle Buck is one of my favorite movies.
