Dr. Melissa Boyer

Dr. Melissa Boyer received her doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 2018. She received her Bachelor’s in Animal Science from Washington State as well with a concentration in dairy production. Dr. Boyer became a veterinarian to pair passion for teaching with her love of animals and medicine. She is dedicated to making sure her clients have the most up to date information to help their pets live long and happy lives.

Dr. Boyer grew up near Seattle in Washington before moving to the other side of the state for college. While she had no experience with farm animals, she thought it would be an adventure to work with them in school, and it was! With her curiosity satisfied, she moved back into the world of cats and dogs during veterinary school and after graduation at a clinic in Olympia, WA. Then, she continued her journey south and joined Beaverton Pet Clinic in 2020. While she’s moved around a bit during her life, she has no intentions of leaving the constant drizzle of the Pacific Northwest.

From a veterinary standpoint, Dr. Boyer has a strong interest in preventative care and client communication. It is her belief that pet owners are the most important part of their pet’s healthcare team and it is her goal to make sure that owner understand their pets care and needs. She also has an interest in internal medicine, geriatric care, and team management.

When Dr. Boyer is not taking care of her patients at work, you can usually find her in the kitchen trying new recipes or (when the weather is nice) exploring new hiking trails. She also dotes on her grump old lady cat, Pandora, whenever she can.

Do you have any nicknames?
I’ve been given some in the past, but nothing stuck so Melissa it is!

In your words, what is your job at Beaverton Pet Clinic?
As an associate veterinarian, it is my job to help owners understand what is going on with their pets and what the best options are for their care. I am excited to help Beaverton Pet Clinic keep improving our service to our clients!

Why did you decide to work at Beaverton Pet Clinic?
Beaverton Pet Clinic practices high quality medicine and is oriented towards prevention and early treatment. Our team is wonderful and always puts our patients first while having fun doing it!

Do you have any pets?
My kitty Pandora and I have been inseparable for 13 years. She is grumpy, stubborn, and always tells you how she feels about things, and I love every second of it. I also have a step-kitty named Purrseus who is a 3-year-old boy and a constant whirlwind of energy (which his step-sister, Pandora, is not too happy to be living with). Together they are quite the pair!

Tell us a little known fact about you!
I played the double bass in the orchestra from elementary school through college. I could also probably eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch every day for the rest of my life, but I’ve been told that might not be good for my health.
