Dr. Johanna Smith

Dr. Johanna Smith was born and raised in Massachusetts. She knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a little girl. When she went touring colleges, the cows are what sold her on the pre-veterinary track.

Johanna went to college at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she majored in animal science with a minor in wildlife conservation. After graduating, she worked at a Humane Society and then moved onto working as a surgical assistant for a specialty hospital (Angell Animal Medical Center) in Boston, MA.

Johanna went to Ross University school of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts. She completed her clinical year rotations at Kansas State Veterinary School in Manhattan, KS.

Johanna enjoys hiking, hanging out with her cats, and tending to her plants in her free time. She is new to the Portland area and has enjoyed the outdoors and the wine scene here so far.

Yes I do! I have a 6 year old fluffy tabby named ‘Mittens’ who was a stray from New England. I have had her since she was just 6 weeks old. She is polydactyl, meaning she has extra toes – which is why she goes by Mittens. I also have a 3 year old tabby named ‘Kitt’ who is from the island of St. Kitts. He is the sweetest little guy. They love to snuggle.
