Certified Veterinary Technician
Meet Brian, one of our Certified Veterinary Technicians.
Do you have any nicknames?
Usually just B or B-Ri (pronounced Bee-Rye)
In your words, what is your job at Beaverton Pet Clinic?
My job is to help assist with anything I can. Whether its to help calm a nervous pet or simply provide butt scratches to distract them from vaccines and make the visit more pleasant, that’s what I’m here for. I also help out with any anesthetic procedures such as a spay, neuter, or dental cleaning as well as getting your pet’s monthly flea, tick and heart-worm preventative ready for them.
Why did you decide to work at Beaverton Pet Clinic?
I moved here to Oregon at the beginning of the year after spending 16 years in the desert for a much needed change of scenery and to be closer to my family. After spending the last 3 and a half years in emergency medicine I decided something less stressful was needed and so I found myself lucky to be brought on to Beaverton Pet Clinic. Working here is quite enjoyable due to all the happy and healthy animals I get to see as well as helping to teach/train my coworkers on various techniques. Everyone here is upbeat and contains a genuine passion for what they do.
Do you have any pets?
I have 4 pets, 2 cats and 2 dogs. The cats are Tony and Timmy who both were live in clinic blood donors in Arizona whose donations helped save the lives of more than a few feline friends. Tony is quite outgoing and is also known as Tony the Tiger while his infinitely more shy brother, Timmy, is scared of his own shadow as well as most new people. He is also known as Timmy the Timid. My 2 dogs are Emma and Gemini. Emma is a Patterdale Terrier mix who has such a sweet temperament and loves meeting new dogs, being chased at the dog park, and sun bathing at every opportunity. More than once she will refuse to come back inside due to sunbathing in the grass in the backyard. Gemini is my amazing Australian Shepherd who adopted me right at the start of my schooling and career in the veterinary field. She is quite lazy for an Aussie, but when taken for a run she loves it. She likes to talk once she gets to know you and she secretly loves playing hide and seek under a blanket. She has joined me on many adventures including the Grand Canyon and even got to see a moose!
